Business Flowers

We love bringing flowers into the work place and watching how something as simple as some flowers can bring so much happiness into the area.  It’s been proven that having even one LIVE flower in your environment can bring happiness and more productivity….and who wouldn’t want that?!

This fun arrangement was placed on the counter at Village Kitchen.  Because it is an establishment guests come to eat we decided it would be fun to make an arrangement which featured some of edible items.  Look closely to see different types of lettuce, small red tomatoes, green onions, parsley, and more including an artichoke (may not be visible in picture).  downsized_0420091125a

White Orchid Bouquet

Simple, elegant, and chic are all perfect words to describe white orchids for a wedding bouquet.

Add a punch of hot pink mini flowers and a bed of hydrangea greens for them to rest on and you have

a very happy and beautiful bride.

Fall Weddings

While it is still hot and humid outside, we as florists are already busy planning for fall and all the amazing, wonderful colors and objects that come with it.  Just think of the intense oranges, golden yellows, beautiful branches, and how fun it is to incorporate items like pine cones, pumpkins, and berries.  0823081402

Preparing For A Big Wedding At Lake Hickory Country Club

Hopefully very soon we will be able to post a few pictures from our Country Club wedding this past weekend.  In the meantime, you can catch a glimpse of some of the little details.

Rehearsal Dinner at Lake Hickory Country Club

This past weekend, we had the opportunity to do the flowers for a rehearsal dinner hosted by the Lake Hickory Country Club.  It was such a pleasure to do flowers that were not the usual, traditional, style and flowers for a wedding event.

Centerpeice for Head Table

A black vase filled on the head table was the anchor for all the arrangements.  This particular arrangement combined the other two styles into one.  (See photo above).

Tall Centerpeice

The tall arrangement consisted of an unusual twist on an ocean theme.  The bottom of the clear glass vases were seashells resting on a bed of sand while moss and purple sea lavender added a some simple pops of color.

A top the beautiful glass vase were blue and white hydrangeas, some sea lavender, and grass which mimicked sea grass blowing in the breeze.

Rachael Setting Up

Small Centerpeices

The smaller arrangements consisted of square cube vases and black river rocks resting on a round mirror.  Bright yellow flowers and white queen ann’s lace all placed in random fashion looked stunning with the green galax leaves supporting them.

First Presbyterian Church Wedding

What a perfect day for a wedding!  This last weekend our bride was blessed with the most amazing weather here in Hickory, NC.  Of course, the flowers loved it too!  Not too hot, not too cold, but just right!

The flowers for the wedding consisted of a lush bed of greens with pink and red roses were nestled in between. For a textural, and color accent we added bright white lilies.

The church alone has a simple elegance to it which is what we captured with the flowers as well.  Simple lush green pew arrangements alone with a unity candle stand adorned with flowers as well as a 5 foot wide candelabra.

The reception was held in the ballroom at the Crowne Plaza Hotel.  A mix of shorter cubed arrangements really helped balance out the room while tall arrangements, reaching 6 feet tall, really helped create drama and height.

As always, not being a photographer, the pictures never do the flowers justice……but it was a beautiful wedding.

Local Wedding At The Crowne Plaza Hotel

Yesterday we finished up a beautiful wedding that began at the First Presbyterian church in Hickory, North Carolina and then wrapped up in the ballroom of the Crowne Plaza Hotel.  The bride chose for her flowers two varieties of greens so that all the arrangements were lush and full along with pink roses, red roses, and white lilies.  The bright colors really “popped” and looked incredible.

Rachael West Preparing for a Wedding

For this wedding there were two types of centerpiece arrangements. Pictured  below is the smaller of the two which consisted of  square cubed vases with a black band around each vase while the flowers were nestled in a bed of greens.

Candelabra Arrangement

Wired Orchids

0420091336aThis whimsical arrangement consisted of green hydrangeas, some hot pink tropical leaves looped as an accent,  green orchids wired to curly willow branches, and a green wire looped around base of vase.

The orchids last several days out of water and created a great a really fun sculptural piece for the local art museum.

Adam and I just got back into the States late last night from our honeymoon… and I wanted to take a few minutes this morning to thank you for everything you did for our wedding! EVERYTHING turned out BEAUTIFUL!!! The design for the top & bottom ledge at the staircases was AWESOME! I couldn’t believe how great it turned out.. those yellow callas were beautiful. The centerpieces were fabulous too! You guys did wonderful stretching out those flowers since we had to add extra tables, thank you so much!! We had a great many compliments from our guests on how beautiful the lemons looked with the orchids and callas! Also, our cake was pound cake with lemon filling so I think everything blended and turned out perfect!

Also, you were a pleasure to work with… probably the best service we received from anyone during the whole year long planning.
