Wedding Food Tips

Some may say it’s the ceremony , some  may say it’s the dress that will leave every talking. The item that will leave a lasting impression on all your guests will be the food. Food is a central part  of your wedding and must be carefully thought out. The bride are groom are the best decision makers on this item. Not because a wedding planner wouldn’t do, but because only the bride and groom know their guests the best. Sure there is a flow to the wedding that should be kept in mind when choosing your meal, but take into consideration who your guests are. Planning a wedding can be overwhelming, but along the way you will find tips to help the process along.

Time of Day

What you serve at your wedding should be in keeping with the time of day. If you have opted for an evening ceremony, a full course meal that begins at 9pm isn’t the optimal choice. Try to look at a light buffet. When a buffet is suggested it is usually thought of as cold meats. There is no reason to keep this stereotype going. As said earlier, know your audience. Perhaps an antipasto bar would be in order, or a fondue of cheese, meat , breads and then a chocolate fondue for dessert. Your food should also be relevant with the size of your wedding.

A full course dinner should be served at the dinner hour. If your ceremony is taking place  in the early or late afternoon  you may wish to have a cocktail hour to transition from the pictures to the dinner or you may want to omit it. This is up to the bride and groom. A typical dinner should consist of an appetizer( salad) main course and dessert. You can opt for soup or salad to start, and usually there are two options for dinner. Poultry and fish are a safe choice.  The side dishes you choose can be an option of two choices  as well, same with the dessert menu.

How to Choose

When planning for a small or large wedding  it is still important to know what you are serving. This can be the best part of the planning, taste testing! Don’t be shy to sample what’s going to be served at your wedding, after all you are paying for it. You can consult with as many caterer’s as you wish to get an idea of what options are out there. Don’t make your decision in haste, comparison shop for menu and price.

What’s the Cost

Again, size will determine what price range you are in. If your setting out with a budget in mind, stick to it. There will be a a solution to get you the food you want at the price you need. If your wedding is set to be an intimate affair, look at a private chef. This will be an elegant solution and leave your guests talking. Keep in mind you may have to compromise, but it is very important  to comparison shop this market. Always sample the food, and look for references to ensure you are dealing with a reputable company.

The Curse of the Fast Food Franchise

Every single day millions of people adventure through the drive thru’s and doors of their local fast food franchise, allowing themselves to consume excess amounts of calories, saturated fats, carbohydrates, sodium and protein. Have you ever wondered how bad these locations can be for you, even though they try making us believe they aren’t? Trust me, we have! All those meals you think aren’t going to have any affect on your health, well time to live in reality people.

When a meal takes less time to make then it does for you to pay, it has to have something wrong with it. One fast food franchise millions of people go to throughout the entire world is McDonald’s. The overly popular franchise that seems to have gotten away with providing the public with unhealthy, fattening and quick meal options for too many years. Sure, it tastes good, but it doesn’t do you any good.fast food franchise

In amongst some well deserved research, we came across some information on how bad McDonald’s truly is for you. Now, everything has been broken down individually so that you can see exactly what you are consuming, and how much you are consuming. If you enjoy McDonald’s and don’t want to know, then I would not continue reading, but we feel you should.

Food Description: Big Xtra! with Cheese
Servings: 1 each
Calories: 810
Fat (gms): 55
Carbs (gms): 52
Protein (gms): 29

Food Description: French Fries
Servings: Small , Medium, Large, Super
Calories: 210, 450, 540, 610
Fat (gms): 10, 22, 26, 29
Carbs (gms): 26, 57, 68, 77
Protein (gms): 3, 6, 8, 9

Food Description: Coca-Cola Classic
Servings: Child, Small , Medium, Large, Super
Calories: 110, 150, 210, 310, 460
Fat (gms): 0, 0, 0, 0, 0
Carbs (gms): 29, 40, 58, 86, (doesn’t list for Super)
Protein (gms): 0, 0, 0, 0, 0

Now for a person that orders a Large Big Xtra! with Cheese Meal they will be consuming the following amounts:

  • Calories: 810+540+310 = 1660
  • Fat (gms): 55+26+0= 81
  • Carbs (gms): 52+68+58= 178
  • Protein (gms): 29+8+0= 37

So that means you will be consuming a total of 1660 calories, 81 grams of fat, 178 grams of carbohydrates and 37 grams of protein all in one sitting. This is a very common meal that many order regularly, and the average person generally requires 2000 calories a day. This means, with one meal from McDonald’s, you are consuming almost an entire days worth of calories.

If you are someone that does this on a regular basis, your health is going to greatly minimize. The amount of energy you have to get through your days will rapidly decrease, your metabolism will diminish and your ability to burn calories will drop. This will in turn increase your chances at gaining excessive amounts of weight and make it much more difficult to burn off those calories.

Instead of eating from your local fast food franchise every time you are in a rush and unable to make a healthy meal, consider becoming apart of the Medifast Diet. This diet is a meal replacement diet that has quick, easy meals for you. You can instead eat a healthy, delicious meal that is good for you and make it in the same amount of time it would take you to go through a drive thru window for fast food. Put an end to your bad eating habits now!

Wedding Caterers – Interview Your Food

Don’t you wish that picking out a caterer were as easy as choosing wine wedding favors or silver wedding favors? Well, wish in one hand, pour syrup in the other, and see which one fills up first. Hiring the right caterer for your budget could be the most difficult task you will do when planning out and putting together your perfect wedding and reception.

Be prepared to spend some time on this. You will have to interview several caterers in each area of service that you need catered. If you go with the very first caterer that throws a good number at you, odds are you will regret it when it is too late to change it. Speak to several caterers and find one that not only stands out from the rest, find the one that you actually like and feel a connection with. A caterer who understand the flow and style of your event. Make a list of everything that you are expecting of a caterer and don’t back down too easily if one or more of your points can’t be met to your satisfaction. It is also important to listen. You may be making an unreasonable request without realizing it.

Listening to your caterer is important. If you present them with an unreasonable or difficult request, do they simply tell you it can’t be done or do they also offer alternatives and solutions that would benefit both you and your budget. If they are offering solutions then you are on the right track. A good caterer is creative and solves problems to get your business and keep it. It is the mark of a good businessman to find things that will work for you instead of against you . They will offer many options when faced with an obstacle that will help you surmount it.

Inspect the equipment. If you are hiring a food caterer, odds are that during the interview, the last thing they are expecting is your request to inspect their kitchen and catering truck. If they refuse to let you take a quick peek at the equipment that you will be serving your guests from, scratch that candidate from your list and thank them for their time. Remember that you are spending a good portion of your budget on the food, you want your guests to enjoy it. A great food service caterer is involved with every aspect of their business  such as keeping the equipment up to date .  Presentation is everything.

Double-check any references that they offer and then get the details of the event from the references. In today’s world, you have the luxury of serveral reasources  largest being the internet. Use it to your advantage. Anyone can ask a friend or relative to say they catered an event for him or her and did a fabulous job. Ask for the date of the event and check for yourself whether they were married on the date and place they give to you. If you can verify the date, you probably have a legitimate reference and not the caterers friend or girlfriend.

Finally, follow your gut instinct. Nine times out of ten, your heart knows when you have found the right person. If he/she is personable, runs a clean and tight ship, and can provide excellent references that pan out, you have a winner. Now go enjoy your wedding.

The History of Nutrisystem

NutriSystem began in 1971 as a franchised, physical-location outlet for weight loss. It grew to become the largest weight-loss program of its kind by the early 90s. Unfortunately, the company had to file for bankruptcy in early 1993. What saved the company was a new-found focus on direct-delivery foods. Eventually they simplified both their registration and order process, and closed their physical sites.

Hagan and Jankovic brought their unique perspective when they purchased NutriSystem at the turn of the century. Their approach was to introduce the products to the online market and re-establish customer awareness through heavy television-marketing campaigns. Additionally, the company aligned itself with some easily-recognized exercise programs, Pilates among them. Today, they also offer exercise equipment and are opening women’s fitness centers across the nation.

NutriSystem has always promoted the importance of a low calorie diet. For ease of use, they provide the limited 450 calorie food in ten-day bundles consisting of shakes and three low-calorie microwavable-meals. Their meals are based on the Food Guide Pyramid, and contain 60% carbohydrates, 20% protein and 20% fat. They believe there is only one bottom line when attempting to lose weight: to consume less calories than you burn.

There has traditionally been no on-going education provided to consumers with regard to food preparation after achieving one’s desired weight. Thus, many former clients regained the lost weight when cooking for themselves. NutriSystem is now addressing this situation. The company has purportedly updated their site to include a wealth of on-line support, counseling, and other information not previously available.

Past history aside, it is important to note that NutriSystem is making a concerted effort to turn things around. With the addition of on-line support, counseling and a long list of informational resources concerning not only food, but exercise, they are gaining ground. In fact, the easily accessible exercise programs and their alliances with exercise equipment companies, indicate NutriSystem may yet re-emerge as a leader in the weight-loss field. Customer reviews are improving, which demonstrates that NutriSystem is headed in the right direction. It is fair to say this is company appears to be moving ahead with more determinedness than ever before.

Weight Loss Food:- Does It Mean No Treats

We all think of weight loss food as the really healthy items, lots of fresh fruit and vegetables, a selection of foods high in fiber, a small quantity of fats, some protein and some carbohydrates. After weeks of eating the same healthy food you may start to resent your diet and start binging on the foods that made you start your diet in the first place. If you start to feel this way, stop and think about all the hard work that you have done and are about to undo.

Being on a weight loss program does not mean that you have to miss out on the treats. When you do notice a change in yourself, reward yourself with a treat. I do not mean go for a large bar of your favorite chocolate or a huge bag of candy. A little treat every now and then will not do any harm. Chocolates should be made a luxury in your diet and not a routine. Do not indulge in too many of them. Yes, you can treat yourself to a piece or small bar of chocolate occasionally, but do not get into the habit of settling down in the evening to eat a large slab of your favorite chocolate. If you can not resist the temptation to binge, do not buy it from the grocery store.

If your partner, friends or family normally buy you a box of chocolates as a gift ask them to buy you something else, for example tickets to the cinema, a new dress for when you reach your goal or even a day of pampering. When you buy your chocolate look at the calorific value on the wrapper, some of the diet chocolate bars are very nice to eat and are low in fat, which is a bonus.

Avoid the cream filled chocolates because although there is less sugar, there is still the cream in them, which is high in calories. Perhaps, you would like to treat yourself to an alcoholic beverage maybe once or twice a week.

Alcoholic beverages contain calories too. Just look at how many calories are in each of these standard measures of the most popular drinks:

  • Alcohol Free Wine 37
  • Baileys, Irish Cream 129
  • Champagne 96
  • Cider (Low Alcohol) 97
  • Cider (Sweet) 239
  • Cider (Vintage) 574
  • Dry White Wine 77
  • Dry Red Wine 83
  • Sherry (average) 140
  • Sweet Red Wine 100
  • Sweet White Wine 103
  • Beer, Bitter (Pint) 182
  • Lager (Can) 221
  • Guinness, Stout (Pint) 170
  • Gin and Slimline Tonic 56
  • Vodka and Diet Coke 55
  • Whisky and Lemonade 82

It is a myth that beer is fattening. According to the BBPA, a glass of beer with a typical 4. 6% alcoholic volume, has fewer calories not only than a similar measure of wine, but also milk or fruit juice. The rest of the alcoholic drinks may not be fattening by themselves but when mixed with coke, lemonade or another soft drink the calorific value rises. However, after a couple of drinks you will be in no position to watch your diet and may find yourself at the local pizza parlor or curry house indulging it a lot of the foods that you have been missing.

If your choice of drink is wine, choose the dry option. Dry white wine contains 77 calories as opposed to sweet white wine which has 103 calories per standard measure. Sweet wines naturally contain a lot of sugar. Most of this sugar has been fermented away in dry wines. Avoid fortified wines because they contain even more sugar, a standard glass of sherry has 140 calories!

Hopefully, this will keep you motivated to reach your target weight loss. Remember, a little of what you fancy does not do your diet any harm, it is when you over indulge that you start to damage the hard work and effort that you have put in.

Weight Loss Food – Recommended Foods for Losing Weight Fast

When one is consumed with a goal of weight loss, the generally look first to the food they are eating.   They must cut back on high-calorie foods that are rich in fat and sugar.   No more late-night stops for pizza or ice cream.   There are sacrifices to be made in this venture. There is a group of foods- mainly comprised of fruits and vegetables- that are said to contain negative calories.   These foods are said to be good for dropping pounds, but that is more because of the low amount of energy in these foods.   Some of these foods include asparagus, broccoli, cucumber, berries and watermelon. Other weight loss-friendly food includes those high in fiber.   This is because those items fill us up on less calories, and often take longer to eat.   Fiber also fills the stomach up faster which is why we get full on it faster than other types of foods.   Obviously, low-fat items are a good idea to consume when counting calories.   Since fat contains more than twice the amount of energy of carbohydrates or protein, eating less fat is a natural way to lower caloric intake.   Foods high in vitamin B often produce the desire to exercise. Other weight loss food that are beneficial are those with a high-water content, and it’s also important to drink plenty of water everyday.   We are supposed to ingest half of our pound weight in ounces.   This benefits dieters because thirst can sometimes be mistaken for hunger.   If we drink the correct amount of water, we will be less likely to feel hungry.

Weight Loss Food Tips
