Funny Questions to Ask the Bride and Groom

This 4 minute read will show you how to make your wedding reception something special and different than any of your friends’ receptions.

So it’s come the time to make a speech or perhaps you have decided to incorporate some games into the reception. These all are the makings of a great wedding reception, but you want to do it right. With at least one hundred of the bride and grooms closest friends and family, you want to make sure that everything you have for “material” is kept in a tasteful manner. As the “wedding party” it is up to you to make sure that anything done for the bride and groom is done so in good taste.

The Newly Weds…

A great idea to get the wedding reception off to a good start is to replay an old classic of “The Newlywed Game”. In this forum the funny questions to ask the bride and groom can be done so ahead of time and written on large cue cards, and then presented to the guests. Each answer will be displayed for the reception to see. This can be a great way to lighten the mood and get your guests having fun.

If this isn’t the forum you like, you can have a microphone at the recpetion and have your MC walk around to guests and have questions ask from the crowd. This can be great fun when you give a guest a microphone. The only thing missing is knowing what funny questions to ask the bride and groom. This is where your MC comes in.

Trivial Wedding Pursuit?

Trivia is an excellent choice for the bride and grooms guest. These questions can be done ahead of time and asked either to the bride and groom about the courtship, in-laws make for some good material when it comes to humour. Asking the bride and groom about any of these subjects can be done with a great deal of humour. You can even venture out into the crowd and have some guests ask the trivia questions or ask the guests what they know about the bride and groom to as some extra humour.  This will draw your guests in to keep the evenings atmosphere full of entertainment.

Asking things like;

  • who has the funniest sense of humor?
  • who is the biggest clutz and what was the funniest thing that happened
  • who is the best cook?
  • who asked who out?
  • who gave the first kiss?
  • who asked for the second date?
  • who is most athletic?
  • who is the happiest about the marriage?
Make sure that you get opinions from the other members of the wedding party on the questions that you are asking. Remember the evening is to be one of class as well as entertainment, so anything that is written and asked needs to be done so with tact. After all this is their wedding, and will be remembered for the rest of their life. It can be wonderful memories made up friends and family that is fondly remembered, or it can be remembered with a bad taste left in your couples mouth.

Writing Your Groom Speech

Writing a speech is not everyone’s cup of tea. Every groom is put to the test when it comes to writing their groom speech. Asking someone to write it for you may not be a good idea since it is your experience and thoughts that need to be conveyed to your family and friends.

There are many samples and templates out there some available  online where you can pattern your writing format. Please do not copy the thought or the entire message just because you ran out of time or you simply can’t write a speech. It will be noticeable when you deliver your groom’s speech, you might even sound mechanical because you used a pre-written script that wasn’t heartfelt or original.

Here are some tips to help you get started with writing your groom speech:

Find the time and dedicate yourself to it, no excuses.

Although no groom has been penalized and ridiculed for delivering an awful speech, it is often the lack of time and dedication to this task that put them in that position. Your wedding should be a memorable one for everybody, not just for you and your bride. Make sure to spend enough time gathering your thoughts, talking to your family and friends for advice, and in writing a draft.

Your wedding preparations take months, so this gives you ample time to prepare yourself. If you can’t find the time during weekdays, at least take some minutes during work breaks or when you are at home in the evenings and weekends.

Use your computer to compose a draft of your groom’s speech.

This is practical advice especially if you don’t have the time to write on paper.This is also  faster than jotting down notes since your thoughts could flow continuously and your hand may not be able to keep up with it. And lastly, you can save your draft, get back to it some other time, edit it, and proof-read it when it’s done.

Look for samples on the net, but do not copy them.

Just to give you ideas, you can check out samples online. See how they were written and pattern your writing on the style and flow of thought. Do not copy the words because those are the words of the author and not yours. You need to write your own thoughts in order to convey your message to your family, friends , guests and of course to your beautiful bride.

Stick to one page or less.

When you write and print your speech, make sure that it won’t exceed one page or  you will run the risk or boring your guests. Write concise and straightforward thanks to the people you want to show gratitude  to and avoid unnecessary remarks if possible.

Stick to positive messages of thanks.

You must remember that your wedding should be a memorable day for everyone. So try to avoid telling stories of embarrassment and other negative things that could embarrass you and the people you want to thank. Write short, positive and encouraging messages, not regrettable ones.

It is easier to write something from the heart. Just make sure to stick to positive things and events, as well as to an average length of speech to give way to your bride, best man, your parents and other speakers, and also to prevent your guests from losing interest.

Search online for more tips on composing and handling a groom speech.  When you do, try to reminisce the times and opportunities with those people close to you so you’ll be able to write a memorable groom’s speech for everyone to cherish.

Funny Groom Speeches – Should You Do It?

Weddings could be an overwhelming experience especially if you’re the groom. This event will most likely happen only once in your life so the experience should be a memorable one. But have you given enough thought on the speech you’re expected to give? Daunting as the thought may be, it is your responsibility as the groom, to give a speech in front of 150 or so friends and relatives during the reception. It is a time honored tradition that you have to do no matter how nerve racking the idea may be. Are you nervous about the wedding day? The feeling is normal but the thought of giving a speech in front of hundreds of people will further add to the anxiety.

After the words of your new father in law, now the bridegroom takes the opportunity to speak up. You have all good words for your parents and your wife’s parents, thanking them for their years of love and care. Thank friends and family for attending your wedding and making it the most memorable event of your life. Appreciate everybody who has helped to make the wedding happen. Say some lovable and good words for your lovely wife.
So there’s normally not much people actually expect form the bridegroom’s wedding speech. This is just it.

Wedding tips for Groom:

So the big day has arrived!! Your carefree days of being the eligible bachelor are no more. It’s now times for you to start behaving as gentlemanly as possible, assume responsibilities and shed the face of your bachelorhood!

For Wear:

For the main day wedding function you can opt for sherwanis, Jodhpuri suits and Kurta Pajamas

Jodhpuri is very popular with the younger men. It gives the groom a regal look, and he can wear appropriate jewellery to ‘match’ that of his bride. The length of the kurta must be 2 inches below the sleeve.

This should be worn with a narrow trouser to match the kurta, made with the same fabric. The groom has a choice of either selecting suiting material or silk, which can be plain, jacquard or jamewari, depending upon his taste, skin colour and of course, his budget.

Sherwani is typical of North Indian and Punjabi weddings. Sherwani is long coat, buttoned up in front with Nehru collars. The sherwani falls well below the knees, and looks elegant especially if the groom is tall, and yes, the physique is perfect. Traditionally, the sherwanis worn are off-white.

A churidar is a long fitting pyjama worn by the North Indian groom. Churidars are usually fine muslins or cottons, white in color. The traditional churidar is tied with a nara at the waist.

The Kurta or the top is a knee length colarless shirt which is adorned inmostly white or pastel colors. But today you will find Kurtas made out of the most wonderful and colorful of fabrics. Pyjama-are like loose trousers with a string tie at the waist. Traditionally white in color.

For hair

Before your wedding it is necessary to take proper care of your hair if you have not taken care for months. It is important to have a proper look on your wedding day. Here are some tips to help you get that perfect look of your hair for your wedding.

It is important your hair should be clean and for that dandruff should be treated with a weekly wash by a good medicated anti dandruff shampoo.

If you have problem of hair fall than it can be treated by proper medication. Excessive hair fall is caused mainly due to severe dieting, nutritional deficiency or some other systemic cause so it is important you take proper care of your diet. Your diet should include lots of fruits and vegetables and at least drinking of 10 to 12 glass of water daily is very important.

You should use a conditioner to give your hair that shining effect

For skin

Skin care is an important aspect of men’s grooming. It’s important to take care of your skin, as you age because of so much of pollution, dirt, and hectic lifestyle people are not getting time to take care of their health.

Scrub with a moisturizing effect won’t tear the skin and also gives immediate results. If your skin is dry don’t use scrub regularly it makes your skin more dry.

Other than this you can go for a facial once in a month after the age of 25 to maintain your skin and to have a glowing effect. You can also try a home facial, which includes giving yourself a light facial massage with a soothing moisturizing cream and ice cubes, followed by steaming your face.

To have good skin it is important to drink 10 to 12 glasses of water daily to flush toxins out of the system and keep your skin hydrated

Accessories:

Among the other traditional accessories are knives and swords it symbolizes prestige and royalty. These ornamented wedding knives and swords are usually handcrafted.

Kamar Patta or waistbands are elaborate handwork so as to provide a majestic appeal to the groom’s attire. It is tied around the waist of the groom when carrying the coconut during the wedding ceremony.

Sehra is another most accessory worn at the time of marriage it enhances the overall personality of the groom. Mojris are usually traditional Indian footwear it is worn with traditional Indian dressing like sherwanis and Jodhpuri suit.

They come in different colors and designs, and are normally hand crafted. If the groom goes for western suit than to match the look he wears diamond or other semi-precious stone cufflinks, to add a touch of style and elegance

Groom Wedding Speeches

Speaking at your wedding can be extremely nerve wracking.  The flood of emotions that overcomes you for the day that is arriving can make it almost to difficult to write. It can be very hard to stay un emotional long enough to write your speech if you really begin to grasp what it is that you are writing. Grooms writing their speeches can become so overwhelmed just by the sheer magnitude of what the task represents. Take a deep breath. This day is one of kind with your bride, saying what is on your mind and in your heart as you think of your bride  can ever be a bad combination.

 If a speech is not properly prepared it can be an embarrassing and awkward in front of all your guests.Preparing a well thought out speech is not represented by the length of the speech, but the quality of it. The general rule is look  at your watch when your listening to another grooms speech, after seven minutes if the groom still isn’t giving concluding words, the speech has become only a boring part of the wedding tradition. Try to keep your speech something that will not only engage your guests but your bride as well. After all this is your wedding.

Aside from checking how long a speech lasts, there other things to look out for to gauge if the wedding speech is excellently prepared and delivered. These few pointers can help you determine if your going to be a hit or a miss:

Grooms Checklist

The posture and tone of voice of the groom really tells something about his preparations. If a groom is speaking with confidence his body will relate that to the guests as it will be delivered through his speech. This shows the thought the groom has put into his speech.

  • Grooms can often times get caught up in the moment and loose their train of thought. There is allot of pressure for speeches on the wedding day. To avoid feeling like you have lost your train of thought, try keeping a set of note cards in your breast pocket. Have an outline of your general thoughts and who you would like to thank on this day, you don’t want to overlook someone.
  • The points or parts  to this speech you should make clear and tie together. If  your speech doesn’t clearly come together it can be difficult for your guests to follow where your headed with your speech. Try telling relateable stories so it may be easy for everyone to understand where you speech is going.
  • Pay some attention to humour. While this is special day for everyone is it filled with fun and excitement. Injecting some well place appropriate humour . 
  • As the groom , during your wedding speech acknowledging your bride  and professing your love for her seems fitting.

 While it is normal for some people to find any type of public speaking nerve wracking, a grooms speech still has to be done at his wedding. Try practising to get used to saying the speeches you have prepared. As long as this speech is from the heart that is all that should matter.
