How to Keep Communication In Your Relationship

Communication is the foundation that a healthy strong committed relationship is built on. Of course there are many other aspects of a relationship that are essential in it’s successhowever communication holds the most important role. Determining how to keep these lines open will help keep your relationship in good health.

Keeping communication open in a relationship is a daily effort and must be by both parties. Because it is a daily effort there are several things you can do in your relationship to maintain you and partner continue sharing. Communication is about more than asking how each other’s day went. Communication is about sharing your thoughts and feelings, even when they are difficult. Telling your partner the feelings you would rather keep private may be one of the hardest things you have to do, but will keep your relationship honest. If is never easy to engage in a conversation when you know it has the potential to hurt someone, or cause friction in your relationship.

Being open with your feelings is an admirable quality when it is done in a healthy, adult manner. Spontaneous outbursts of anger does not constitute open communication. Communication should be the exchange of thoughts and feelings done so in an open manner. It is a two way process, with support for both parties the relationship.

Establishing the proper channels of communication can take time and effort .This should be the main goal in the relationship in order to cement  the proper foundation. Just how does one go about doing this?  Establish early on that when feelings get hurt, they should be discussed. Bottling up feelings of hurt or embarrassment can lead to very serious feelings of resentments which can ultimate contribute to breakdown in a relationship.

There is a place in every relationship for feelings such as anger. It is what you do with those emotions that will dictate how your relationship will commence after an argument. To keep the communication going, talk to your partner about the situation and acknowledge  any accountability. Once you are able to work through those feelings, talking them through to actually solve the problem Will make communication easier.

Keeping things honest is often difficult in a relationship. A new relationship can be difficult to maneuver especially if you are not sure of what constitutes communication. It doesn’t mean that necessarily every occurrences in the day needs to be discussed, but the situations and events that are significant should be talked about throughout the course of the conversation that are exchanged. Keeping both parties up to date and involved in each aspect of the relationship makes for feelings of satisfaction and contentment.  When each person feels “involved” in the others daily events it means the communication can flow freely.

As time progresses it becomes easier to identify the communication that has it’s place in a relationship  also how and when it should occur.  This process can be uncomfortable as each person grasps for the right words to adequately convey the feelings and emotions that are occurring. This is extremely normal and will get easier with time. The key is that no matter how difficult this may be at first, forging ahead to maintain the communication is what’s important.

Marriage Relationship Advice

Marriage is a sacred union, and it can take a lot of work to keep that union. Unfortunately a lot of marriages end because the effort that’s needed in order to stay together happily. That’s why couples visiting marriage counselors for marriage relationship advice is so common these days. You don’t have to pay money for a counselor to resolve your marriage problems, though.

If both you and your spouse would look at each other yourselves and examine how you’ve been handling each other, you just may be able to come out from the rough spots happier than you ever were before. Learn to compromise with your spouse on whatever you possibly can and try not to start arguments. You may have met them halfway on a lot of things before, but sometimes you need to go further than halfway to meet their cooperation. You may not think it’s fair, but consider if you’ve ever made them meet you more than halfway before.

Marriage is more about sacrifice than just being in a relationship is and both sides need to understand that they’re in it for both of them, not just themselves. But some things are worse than just a lack of effort. If your spouse did something awful like cheat on you, you need to seriously weigh your options. Is staying with them worth the hurt of that kind of betrayal? You need to seriously consider whether that kind of pain is worth the bits of happiness.

Don’t stay with your cheating spouse because you love them — how could their love even compare with yours if they’re lying and betraying your trust by cheating on you? If you are the cheating spouse, you need to consider whether you really want to stay with your husband or wife or not. A cheating spouse hears this type of marriage relationship advice all the time, but its sound to ask yourself: Why did I do this? If your spouse is not making you feel loved enough or is not satisfying your sexual needs, it is probably better that you break it off than drag it out and continue to strain and hurt you both.

There are lots of things to consider before getting married, and if you’re thinking about it take this bit of marriage relationship advice to heart: If you’re not willing to work for the well being of two people instead of one, maybe marriage isn’t the right thing for you right now.

The divorce rate is at an all time high because people get married before actually thinking about what marriage really is: A team effort. Whether you’re married right now or are thinking about popping the question, keep in mind that it’s not the walk in the park that movies and TV make it seem like.

4 Weight Loss Tips to Keep You Looking and Feeling Good

When you are losing weight, you want to feel great and look great at the same time. Some of these weight loss tips should be the solution for you. Each one is a common sense tip to help you to look great, and lose weight. They are good for inclusion into any type of weight loss program that you choose to implement. Each one can be used on its own, or in combination with any type of program that you would be on for maximum weight loss potential.

Diet Control And Exercise

This is the top one of many weight loss tips. Diet control and exercise go hand in hand for controlling your weight. Exercising at least three times a week minimum and controlling what you eat will help you lose weight.   Avoid sugar and sugar substitutes, avoid fast food, and eat meat that is lean and either broiled or baked. This pertains to chicken and fish.

Drink plenty of water.

Walk around the block. All these are good sense tips to help you to lose the weight that you want.

Vitamins are good for you

When speaking about weight loss tips, one that is little understood is the vitamin angle. Vitamins are good for you and can replace some of the vitamins and minerals that you lose when losing weight. Only take natural supplements, as you can overdo the vitamin things. With any vitamin or herbal remedy, you need to keep these to a minimum. You can consult with a nutritionist, but buy on your own. While taking these are good for you, there is a chance that you could overdo, so keep the supplements to a minimum. This is a safety issue mainly as some herbs and supplements in large doses can be fatal. A doctor should be consulted before taking any of these types of supplements.

Maintain Your Priorities

Another weight loss tips is maintaining your priorities.   When you are going for sandwich for example, do you really need the extra mayonnaise? You also need to remember to maintain your food and exercise goals. Sticking to them may be difficult, but it will help keep you on track with your weight loss goals. By prioritizing your needs, and keeping those priorities, you will be well on your way to the weight loss that you want, without have a train wreck or two.   Even if you do slide, with priorities in place, you will be able to recover from a slip or two.

Set Realistic Goals

Weight loss tips also point out that you need to set realistic goals for yourself such as amount of weight lost in a specific time frame. Unrealistic weight goals such as 50 lbs in a week are the number one reason that diets fail. Your progress must be slow and steady, not crazy dieting. Be realistic when setting goals and strive for them. You are not superhuman, but human, so plan your goals accordingly. By having a realistic goal, you are increasing your chances of losing the weight.

Green Life: Ways to keep your wedding eco-friendly

Not surprisingly, many engaged couples are choosing to go green for their big day, opting for a simple wedding while incorporating eco-friendly choices.

The eco-friendly wedding gown: Pure silk with vintage embroidery, Swarovski crystals and seed beads, in a modified mermaid silhouette. Circle Park Bridal, $749.

“Going green is no longer a trend, but a normal influence in the way weddings are taking place,” says Jim Love, publisher of Premier Bride DFW, who also offers a Web site with green tips (www.pbdallas.com). “As more brides and grooms have become eco-sensitive when planning their wedding and honeymoon, so have the vendors: You just need to ask them.”

Ashley Paz at Vera Green Productions, a local company specializing in creating weddings that are eco-friendly, says: “The biggest green wedding trend that I have seen this season is not just an eco-friendly one, but an economical one. In their decor, couples seem to be incorporating more reused elements such as vintage vases and candle holders.” She adds that vintage items can be used to decorate new homes.

Here are some options for local brides who want to go green.

The gown

Eco-friendly material such as hemp is becoming popular, or how about a vintage or used gown? After the wedding you can donate it to a charitable organization.

Circle Park Bridal in Addison sells dresses that are 100 percent silk for less than $1,000. Brides can order hemp dresses as well. 15402 Addison Road, Suite B; 972-503-9200; www.circleparkbridal.com.

Invitations

Use recycled paper or consider handmade or plantable paper, processed chlorine-free and printed with vegetable or soy-based inks. There is also tree-free paper made out of hemp, banana stalks, bamboo, kenaf or organic cotton. Ask your printer to use paper with a high percentage of post-consumer recycled content.

You might also consider hiring a calligrapher to address the envelopes, which eliminates printing waste.

Love advises against sending invitations via e-mail under the guise of green: “It’s tacky, but you can use e-mail to send out a save-the-date reminder.”

The Paper Lion in McKinney and Wedding Essentials in Dallas offer eco-friendly invitations and work hard to go paperless for proofs and design.

The Paper Lion, 2310 Virginia Parkway; 972-540-5966; www.thepaperlion.com.

Wedding Essentials, www.weddingessentials online.com

The reception

Use locally grown and organic food for the reception and dinner. Supporting local growers cuts down on costs and travel distances. Place cards made of seeded paper also can be taken home by guests and planted.

Favors

How about giving saplings to the guests that they can take home and plant? Or, consider organic chocolates, attractive bags of organic herbs or a small charitable donation in each guest’s name.

When thinking of gifts for your attendants, go organic: a gift basket of organic beauty products, organic coffees or teas, recycled stationery or even a bottle of organic wine.

Bridal registry

Love says that one thing many couples are doing these days is asking guests to make donations to eco-friendly organizations instead of giving gifts, especially if it is a second marriage.

If you are registering for major appliances, choose Energy Star.

Some sites that specialize in green gifts:

Flowers

Choose fair trade or locally grown flowers, and consider having the flowers and other decorations moved from the ceremony to the reception. At the end of the day, donate the flowers to a hospital.

Earth Blooms in Dallas uses recycled packaging and sources locally raised flowers when possible. They’re at 2802 Greenville Ave.; 214-823-6222.

Green wedding consultant

Marianne Richardson of Elegant Weddings by Marianne, a green company in McKinney, says she seeks out vendors who don’t use plastic and who go paperless.

She also asks that they recycle, and buy locally.

“More brides are realizing they can have a beautiful wedding, not spend a ton of money, and give back to the environment,” she says.

10 Essentials for Brides at Their Wedding: Tips to Keep You Looking Your Best

It’s the day of your wedding, and the tips and advice you received from your mother, friends, and loved ones have paid off and you look and feel beautiful. Time has been spent arranging your hair just so, making up your face perfectly, and getting you ready for your big day. Many times, however, brides just consider the big picture – and often forget how uncomfortable they may be during the ceremony or reception in a hot, heavy dress with four-inch heels. It’s a bad scenario, but it happens. To keep you up, dancing, and mingling with your guests, here are a few of the most essential bride must-haves for your wedding day. With a little forethought and a carefully packed cocktail bag, you can be prepared for whatever the day has in store with these wedding tips!

The Top 10 Bride Must-Haves

1. Comfortable shoes: One of the most essential bride must-haves is comfortable shoes. Imagine having to dance and walk around in those four-inch heels for a few hours. Sounds painful, doesn’t it? Not buying comfortable shoes is the reason that many brides switch to flip-flops during the reception. Though a quick wardrobe change is one option, consider testing out the shoes you buy well in advance. One of the more routine wedding tips that experts suggest is to walk around your home to break the shoes in and ensure you don’t get any annoying blisters in the process. After all, squinting and wincing in your pictures will not be pretty. And if you’re insistent on those pretty, but painful four-inch heels, bring along another pair of more comfortable shoes for the after party – some simple flats will do the trick!

2. Breathable gown: Much like your shoes, one of the best bride must-haves is a wedding dress that moves with you. A constricting dress will make you cringe as much as those shoes do, and tugging and jerking the fabric will damage it, not to mention alert everyone to the fact that you’re extremely uncomfortable. Try your dress on beforehand. When trying it on at the shop, if it feels too tight, then your wedding day will be no different. Move around and get a feel for the dress to ensure that you are at ease on your big day.

3. Waterproof mascara: Oh, there will be lots of tears shed – by you, your mother, your close friends, and family. But, you’ll be heartbroken when you see your mascara making bee lines all over your face. One of my favorite wedding tips is to wear waterproof mascara to combat the ‘raccoon look.’ Wearing waterproof mascara on your wedding day will keep your makeup looking fresh, and you’ll rest assured that you have no smudges to worry about.

4. Long-lasting lipstick: From eating to kissing, your lipstick has many opportunities to fade or smear away. Before deciding on one brand or color, try it out for awhile. Wear it while doing all the things you normally do to see if it has the possibility of fading, smudging, or smearing. And make sure you pack the tube of lipstick in your ‘bride must-haves’ bag!

5. Durable antiperspirant: Whether your dress is sleeveless or not, antiperspirant that stands the test of time is an absolute necessity. You want to stay clean, fresh, and sweet-smelling throughout the ceremony and reception, and one of the many wedding tips that experts suggest is to use long-lasting antiperspirant. The only way to guarantee this, of course, is with durable and/or prescription strength deodorant/antiperspirant. This extra layer of protection will give you more confidence in whatever you’re doing.

6. Small compact mirror: Throughout the ceremony and reception, you’ll be relieved that you had your little compact mirror on hand. Tucked away in a small cocktail purse with your other bride must-haves, it’s just a little bit of added confidence. You can quickly check for makeup smudges and reapply as needed or see if any food particles have become lodged in visible places.

7. Aspirin or Ibuprofen: Headaches happen. And so do aching limbs – usually at the most inopportune times. And as far as valuable wedding tips go, be prepared by adding a little tube of aspirin or ibuprofen to your ‘bride must-haves’ cocktail purse. Even if you don’t need it, someone else just might.

8. Stain removal pen: You can find these handy, little pens everywhere. Plus, they’re small enough to be tucked into your cocktail purse filled with your other ‘bride must-haves.’ Just make sure to spot test the pen on a discreet part of your dress before applying it anywhere during the actual event. Some contain bleach, which may harm the fabric. For quick removal of a tiny, but noticeable stain, however, these pens are a god-send.

9. Hairbrush/comb: Tame those frizzies and stay beautiful throughout the day. Another of my favorite wedding tips is to purchase a fold-up brush, which is ideal for a small purse with precious space. A quick dab of lipstick and one or two brushes through your hair will have you ready to meet and greet with guests.

10. Emery board: There is nothing more annoying than a jagged nail. Keep your freshly manicured fingers looking lovely by taking a quick swipe of the emery board (or nail file) across it should one break or chip.

More Than Just Wedding Tips – Valuable Advice

These ten bride must-haves and wedding tips will ensure that you are prepared for your big day. Weather the day effortlessly by testing out your wardrobe, makeup, and hair in advance as well as by packing a little cocktail purse with some of the essential bride must-haves listed above, like that tube of lipstick, compact mirror, aspirin, stain removal pen, comb, and emery board. Even if you don’t need them, you’ll be glad you had them. Think of these bride must-haves and wedding tips as a little helpful layer of extra protection.

Make it personal, keep it real

Experts from EHarmony, Match.com and other online dating sites share advice on how to write a profile and which pictures of yourself to post to get the best response.

New to dating online? Or do you need some pointers on how to brush up your skill set? We asked the experts for some tips.

“Keep profiles brief and specific. Leave the novel at home. Long, drawn-out profiles and sob stories don’t belong on an online dating site. Use a catchy screen name. For instance, I use PianoBaby and PaperbackWriter. It makes it easy for a man to approach me because they have something to say. Don’t put pictures of you and your pets or children. Don’t post party photos — a picture of a man and his buddy might confuse the person looking at the profile [who would wonder] who the right person is in the photo.”

— Julie Spira, author of Cyber-DatingExpert.com and the book “The Perils of Cyber-Dating”

“It’s great when people put five or 10 pictures of themselves that depict things they love to do, pictures that communicate your personality. Writing a tome on your personality profile isn’t necessarily great. It’s about making it personal [with] adjectives, interests, descriptions and honesty.”

— Bob Holden, EHarmony’s vice president of North American singles

“You should always have one close-up to the face. I would recommend that people post three to five photographs on their profiles, but they could also run 50 or so through HotorNot.com [and let people vote] for which ones score the best.”

— Mark Brooks, editor at OnlinePersonalsWatch.com

“A lot of people fly through things really quickly. If you put a lot of general information in your profile, it’s hard to get a sense of who you are. Get a friend to help you write it because a lot of people are uncomfortable talking about themselves. Fundamentally, you should really be honest about who you are and what you’re looking for. That’s true anywhere you meet people.”

— Greg Liberman, president and chief operating officer, Spark Networks, which owns JDate.com, BlackSingles.com, Spark.com, Kizmeet.com and other sites.

“You want your picture to be real. You want to be you. If you start on a date with a picture from 10 years ago and you’ve gained 10 pounds or if you have a lot less hair now, you’re starting on false assumptions. Then you get there and you’ve just proved to the person that they’ve just wasted their time. Your profile should be three paragraphs with, like, five sentences in each paragraph. It’s enough to know that you’ve spent time on it, and one of the paragraphs should be about you, one what you’re looking for and the third is what you’re into right now. It should be a conversation piece that someone could pick out if they’re going to write an e-mail to you. You’ve also got to spell check it like a resume.” Also, don’t Facebook friend someone until you’re sure you both want a relationship because “you go out with a guy maybe twice and you friend him and the fourth date is a disaster and then you’re friends with him. The safest thing to do is a limited-access type of profile. Otherwise, you forget that you’re updating your friends but you’re also updating potential dates.”

— Whitney Casey, Match.com’s relationship expert and author of the book “The Man Plan.”

“The more someone knows about you, the less they want to date you. If you write a massive essay, they’re going to find something to dislike about that person. If you don’t know something, everyone assumes you’re the same as them. Let everything else come out during the dates.”

— Markus Frind, founder/CEO of PlentyofFish.com.
