Wedding Hair Styles

Your wedding day is approaching and everything is planned. One thing you may need to put more time into is deciding how to wear your hair. This can either compliment or take away from your beauty on the most special day of your life.

Coordinate your wedding hair style with the style of the wedding. Formal weddings will require a formal hair style like an up-do. If you are looking at fairy tale weddings, think of a tiara or jeweled hair accessories. With a luxurious French twist, a bun or short hair, a tiara will give you the fairytale look you want.

Choose a wedding hair style that compliments your face. Those with oval faces have the least worries. With an oval face, just beware of bangs and having too much hair in your face. With a round face, go for volume and height. Think of an Audrey Hepburn up-do. This will help lengthen your face. For square faces, either layered, romantic and wispy, or up and heightened. Those with heart-shaped faces can go with a sweep of hair across the brow in whatever style they choose.

Style your wedding hair style with your dress in mind. If you are wearing a strapless ball gown, you may want some wisps, or curls of hair falling onto your naked shoulders for a dramatic effect. Also, if you have a long flowing veil, it will look best on long and flowing hair. Taking a picture of the dress to show your hair stylist can also be very beneficial.

Visit, and re-visit, the stylist. Just like when planning for the perfect cake and the perfect dress, leave yourself time for planning your perfect wedding hair style. Have your stylist try different looks on you, so you can see the final result in the mirror. Bring all of your hair accessories with you to each trial run. This means any clips, tiaras, or veils that you are thinking about wearing. Your stylist will be able to help you with your hair accessory choices.

The headband style can be worn with the hair up or down. You can select a thick white head band to the diamond studded ones which can be worn with or without the veil. Some also come with detachable veils.

The Crown/Wreath is either a circle of flowers or a combination of flowers and ribbons. The design could be either simple or elaborate and can be worn with the hair up or down. It is usually made of flexible material and can be molded to the shape of the head.

Bun Wraps are circular headpieces, which are worn around a bun. They look very elegant though a bit more complicated to wear. It looks best with long thick hair.

Tiaras are available in diamonds, pearls and other materials. It can be worn with the hair up or down. This elegant head piece calls for a sophisticated hairstyle.

Combs can be worn with or without the veil, with the hair up or down. You can choose from pearls, diamonds or flowers. It looks great with shorter hair or if the hair is long it can be worn to hold back the sides of the hair.

The possibilities of wearing your hair up or down are endless. Make sure your hairdo reflects your personality.

Wedding Budget Tips

Having limited funds is causing many people to consider postponing their wedding. Don’t put it off yet!  There are ways to save money and still have your dream wedding. You can actually have a wonderful dress, wedding reception and honeymoon for much less than you may realize. Here are wedding budget tips for how to plan a wedding on a budget even when it is a low budget.

First let’s talk dresses. If you don’t have the means to be on the cutting edge of style and you can appreciate the beauty of dresses that may be last season’s or earlier design, you can save substantially by buying off of the sales or clearance racks. Also there are bridal stores  that during the year have major discounts or sales that future brides line up or even camp out for. If you take advantage of one of these, try to get in there before and try things on so you know some of the dresses you may like. Don’t forget about the internet. There are a number of stores and resources online, the internet has a wealth of wedding sites.

Next let’s discuss the wedding venue. If you plan to have your wedding in a Church, most require a small donation for the use of the Church and the services of the minister. You may also be able to have your reception there if you aren’t planning to have loud music or serve alcohol. This is potentially a huge savings, especially if you have friends or family members that cater. Other money saving venues are parks and homes of friends or family. Both of these are great venues for having ceremonies and/or receptions in warm weather. Reserving a pavilion in a park and renting or doing it yourself decorations can make for a really beautiful event. Plus, if it is a more natural park with fantastic natural views, this will contribute even more to the beauty of the event as well as make it more memorable for you and your guests. Having a wedding and/or reception at home or at a relative’s home has sentimental value. Here again you can rent or purchase decorations from a craft store and do it yourself. At night, candlelight is so romantic wherever you have it. Whether in the park or at home, you can have a memorable event and save a substantial amount.

To save on flowers, my first suggestion is for those having their wedding in a large Church. Many large churches have florists that they work with. You may be able to save by using the church florist. You may receive a discount for being a member of the church. This florist may allow the use of greenery for no or a very low charge. The florist may sell you candles and flowers at a discount that they can use in that Sunday’s service. My other suggestions are to not underestimate the beauty of greenery, candles and ribbons. If you use more inexpensive items like these, you may be able to get by with fewer more costly flowers. Also see if your florist will give a discount if you or a family member or friend offers some free labor.

The Honeymoon is a substantial part of the wedding budget and the one that you will probably get the most enjoyment out of. Some people spend a lot on the wedding and dress and put what is leftover into the honeymoon or skip it all together. My first idea of how to save here is to take advantage of those discount timeshare vacations. Yes I know it may mean enduring a major sales pitch for possibly half to full day while you are there. But to get a week in Hawaii or other wonderful destination for well below what it would cost otherwise it can be worth it. Besides, you may be able to book somewhere that will throw in a wedding ceremony for free or very little at a neighbor resort. Your friends and family paying to come and stay at a different hotel or resort from you could be their contribution to helping make your special day a reality. I have to warn you though, if you are a personality type that has your whole day ruined by a pushy telemarketer’s call, you might want to give this idea a miss. Do some research and find a beautiful destination or spa within driving distance.

Many people don’t know about wonderful and interesting destinations within driving distance of their homes until someone comes to visit and they are showing them around and researching places for them to go. Put in the research and you may have a wonderful honeymoon for the cost of a few nights stay. Last minute travel is another option. Who says you need to have everything completely planned out? You could set a budget and have some flexibility in your travel dates and add an element of surprise to your honeymoon. Many have friends that have told them about great trips they have taken and booked at the last minute. It’s true that you don’t know where you will be going but, if you make up your mind that you will enjoy wherever you go, you likely will. This option lends itself to the more spontaneous. If it will cause you a great deal of stress not knowing your destination in advance, this option is probably not for you. Wedding planning and the wedding day itself can be stressful enough.

There you have it – ideas and tips for saving money on your wedding dress, wedding reception and honeymoon. Hopefully following these tips will allow you to save money, not need to delay your wedding day and to still enjoy it to the fullest.

Wedding Planning Tips

For some, wedding planning is no more than booking a banquet hall for the gala reception and the wedding ceremony. In reality wedding planning includes many more things. A perfect plan will include invitation ideas, bridesmaid dresses, attire for mother of the bride, and selecting the right bridal flower bouquets. Most important is that you should make your wedding fun and fabulous. Every wedding has a budget. It depends how much you want to spend on your wedding day. Most brides and grooms feel overwhelmed in the process of wedding planning.

Begin by creating a personalized month-by-month to-do list with an approximate wedding date, your date could end up being determined by what is available as far as your church and reception hall. Add all meetings related to the wedding to your checklist so you don’t forget.

The place for your reception party should be selected depending on its availability, price, proximity to the ceremony site, and the number of people it can accommodate. The reception party where all your guests come together to celebrate this event with you, it should reflect and complement the formality of your ceremony.

The selection of your wedding dress will help with determining the style, whether formal or a themed wedding, for your big day.

The dress should be perfect in such a manner that you as the bride feel and look beautiful. A well-fitted dress is flattering to the figure. But most importantly it should be comfortable to wear all day long.

You may also go for hiring a wedding planner.

The fact is that most brides are working professionals, finding time to compare vendors and review deals can be near impossible. A wedding planner will understand your needs and create a wedding which reflects your style, taste and personality, all within your desired budget.

Still thinking about doing it on your own, well it can be done. The internet has sites that will help you with your big day, keep you on track of what is required and when. You will be surprised the network of sites available to help you and your groom with planning your wedding. From your beautiful wedding dress, tuxedos, flowers, to table decorations. It all is just a click away.

Wedding Planning Guide : Success for Your Wedding

There are a hundred and one things that need to be planned for your big day, so a wedding planning checklist is essential. You should start planning well in advance – a year is not too long although that does assume that yours is not a gunshot romance! A Wedding Planning Guide can be the key to success for a smooth wedding. Planning can’t start too early! Here is a wedding planning list to get you started on your wedding day success:

1. The Budget

You need to establish early on what your wedding budget is. Will either set of parent be contributing financially to the wedding? Ideas of roughly how many guests will be attending need to be considered at this early stage, as the size of the event will have a big impact on the cost.

2. The Ceremony

As soon as you know what date you are aiming for, you should find out about the venue and personnel for the ceremony. For a church wedding in particular you should discuss your wedding with the priest or vicar as soon as possible. Even civil ceremony venues can have long waiting lists.

3. Wedding Insurance

This is worth considering, especially if you are planning a particularly expensive wedding. In the unfortunate event that you had to postpone, you could end up paying for everything twice! Wedding insurance can remove that worry.

4. Wedding Reception Planning

Spend some time beforehand jotting down your requirements and priorities, then visit a number of venues before you make your final choice. Attending friends and families weddings can really get your juices going.

5. Flowers

These will need to be booked well in advance, especially if you are planning a wedding on a budget and wish to shop around and perhaps do some of the flower arrangements yourself.

6. Wedding Music

You may wish to select music for both the ceremony venue and the reception venue. Many people hire a live band for the latter. But nothing wrong with hiring a DJ.

7. Photography

If you are planning a wedding on a budget you may wish to consider asking around for friends of friends who do wedding photography.

8. Invitations

Allow extra time depending on how nicely you want to personalize them. Hand written calligraphy invitations are beautiful, if time consuming, so if you have a friend or relative willing to volunteer you should jump at the offer!

9. Wedding Dress

As well as the Groom’s outfits, bridesmaids, plus ushers or pageboys if you will have them.

10. Wedding Cake

Again, book well in advance or if you are lucky enough to have one of the mothers cooking it for you make sure that you discuss the size and decoration early on.

11. Rings

Again, you may be surprised at the time it takes to both decide on the rings and potentially have them ordered in the right sizes. Visit a jewelers early on in the planning.

12. Wedding Gift List

Give some thought as to whether you are going to have a traditional wedding gift list, or something more modern like a note to the effect that “We want your presence not your presents,” as some couples do these days.

13. Transportation

Not only from the church to the reception venue, but also transportation arrangements for guests – and very importantly your travel plans for the honeymoon! The importance of planning ahead for your wedding can’t be over-emphasized.

The best wedding planning tip is simply: Be Organized!

Writing Your Groom Speech

Writing a speech is not everyone’s cup of tea. But every groom is put to the test when it comes to writing their groom speech. Asking someone to write it for you may not be a good idea since it is your experience and thoughts that need to be conveyed to your family and friends.

There are many samples and templates out there and also online where you can pattern your writing format. But please do not copy the thought or the entire message just because you ran out of time or you simply can’t write a speech. It will be noticeable when you deliver your groom’s speech, you might even sound mechanical because you used a pre-written script that wasn’t heartfelt and original.

Here are some tips to help you get started with writing your groom speech:

Find the time and dedicate, no excuses

Although no groom has been penalized and ridiculed for delivering an awful speech, it is often the lack of time and dedication to this task that put them in that position. Your wedding should be a memorable one for everybody, not just for you and your bride, so make sure to spend enough time gathering your thoughts, talking to your family and friends for advice, and in writing a draft.

Your wedding preparations take months, so this gives you ample time to prepare yourself. If you can’t find the time during weekdays, at least take some minutes during breaks or when you are at home in the evenings and weekends.

Use your computer to compose a draft of your groom’s speech

This is practical advice especially if you don’t have the time to write on paper. And this is faster than jotting down notes since your thoughts could flow continuously and your hand may not be able to keep up with it. And lastly, you can save your draft, get back to it some other time, edit it, and proof-read it when it’s done.

Look for samples on the net, but do not copy them

Just to give you ideas, you can check out samples online. See how they were written and pattern your writing on the style and flow of thought. But do not copy the words because those are the words of the author and not yours. You need to write your own thoughts in order to convey your message to your family, friends and guests and of course to your beautiful bride.

Stick to one page or less

When you write and print your speech, make sure that it won’t exceed one page or else you will bore your guests. Write concise and straightforward thanks to the people you want to show gratitude and avoid unnecessary remarks if possible.

Stick to positive messages of thanks

You must remember that your wedding should be a memorable day for everyone. So try to avoid telling stories of embarrassment and other negative things that could embarrass you and the people you want to thank. Write short, positive and encouraging messages, not regrettable ones.

It is easier to write something from the heart. Just make sure to stick to positive things and events, as well as to an average length of speech to give way to your bride, best man, your parents and other speakers, and also to prevent your guests from boredom.

Search online for more tips on composing and handling a groom speech. And when you do, try to reminisce the times and opportunities with those people close to you so you’ll be able to write a memorable groom’s speech for everyone to cherish.

Wedding Toasts – When Two Become One

In any wedding along with the exchange of vows, rings and the sway of the wedding couple to the music, another part which is always anticipated is the one with the wedding speeches. The heartfelt speeches given by the closest people of the wedding couple are always held in great regards. The moment filled with happiness and countless emotions cannot be just wasted in joyful tears only. There are certain things that need to be said or rather heard in order to make the day even more memorable and enthralling. These wedding speeches are made by those who are usually assigned to it. Among these the one made by the father of the bride is considered to be always the most heart whelming. However there are also many things that cannot be put aside. Wedding speeches are supposed to be extra special. These simple lines do not remain such mediocre after they have been spoken as they include or are part of very special moments shared by all on the wedding day.

When the wedding ceremony has concluded and the reception is moving from the reception line to the dinner, this is the time when the well-wishers have a chance to make wedding toasts. The wedding speeches and toasts are a very long-standing tradition in weddings that help celebrate the special day, while raising a glass in honor of the couple.

Wedding toasts can be formally prepared before the event or they can be a spontaneous expression of support and encouragement for the new couple. Giving a wedding toast is a time to express admiration, add an element of humor or laughter, express sentiments and even provide special insights into the courtship and future of the couple.

After the main wedding speech, which is often offered by the best man, the general wedding toasts can begin. Toasts can provide an opportunity for other guests outside of the formal wedding party to participate. They are a good way to make the transition from the formality of the wedding ceremony to a more relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere.

Wedding toasts are generally proposed once all the champagne glasses have been properly filled. Toasts carry with them some tradition, whether the wedding reception is a formal or a casual affair. Toasting should be done by raising the glass with the right hand and by holding the glass straight out from the shoulder. This practice harkens back to the days of concealing weapons, such as a dagger, in one’s clothing. Therefore, extending the glass in such a way provides proof of good intentions.

Another element of traditional wedding toasts that goes back many centuries is the loudness of the merrymaking for the purpose of warding off evil spirits. The sound created by the clinking of the champagne glasses at the end of each wedding toast makes a sound somewhat akin to the ringing of a bell. This is another ancient belief in keeping the evil spirits away from the celebration.

The term “toasting” actually got its roots from a French custom in which a piece of bread was placed in the bottom of each wine glass to absorb the sediment. Someone who was considered to be a good toaster would then drink all the way “down to the toast.” Over time, this practice evolved into the current custom of drinking to someone’s prosperity, health or happiness. Nowadays, the wedding toasts are offered to wish congratulations and good luck to the newlyweds.

Many people are not aware that during the wedding toasts, the bride and groom should not raise their glasses. Since they are the ones being honored, everyone else is to raise their glass to them, leaving the couple to simply sip from their glasses at the conclusion of each wedding toast.

Traditionally, wedding toasts are given either during the rehearsal dinner, the wedding reception, or on both occasions. In any event, the toasting usually follows the meal or is done just after the ceremony of cutting the cake.

Remember that your wedding speech or wedding toasts should only be about 10 minutes long at the most and around a thousand words, more or less. To be sure that you come across as warm and heartfelt rather than nervous, invest a few minutes everyday for about a week before the wedding to practice your speech or toast out loud in front of a mirror. A lot of wedding toasts also can just be a raising of your glass with a congratulations and this is very acceptable when you are possibly not family to the bride or groom.

Wedding Caterers – Interview Your Food

Don’t you wish that picking out a caterer were as easy as choosing wine wedding favors or silver wedding favors? Well, wish in one hand, pour syrup in the other, and see which one fills up first. Hiring the right caterer for your budget could be the most difficult task you will do when planning, and putting together your perfect wedding and reception.

Be prepared to spend some time on this. You will have to interview several caterers in each area of service that you need catered. If you go with the very first caterer that throws a good number at you, odds are you will regret it when it is too late to change it. Speak to several and find one that not only stands out from the rest, find the one that you actually like and feel you would have probably called friend in other circumstances. Make a list of everything that you are expecting of a caterer and don’t back down too easily if one or more of your points can’t be met to your satisfaction. It is also important to listen. You may be making an unreasonable request without realizing it.

Listening to your caterer is important. If you present them with an unreasonable or difficult request, do they simply tell you it can’t be done or do they also offer alternatives and solutions that would benefit both you and your budget. If they are offering solutions then you are on the right track. A good caterer is creative and solves problems to get your business and keep it. It is the mark of a good businessman to find things that will work for you instead of against you and will offer many options when faced with an obstacle that will help you surmount it.

Inspect the equipment. If you are hiring a food caterer, odds are that during the interview, the last thing they are expecting is your request to inspect their kitchen and catering truck. If they refuse to let you take a quick peek at the equipment that you will be serving your guests from, scratch that candidate from your list and thank them for their time. The last thing you need is two-hundred wedding guests suing you for everything you will ever own for the rest of this lifetime and the next. A great food service caterer runs a ship so clean and tight that you could perform surgery with their carving knife in the back of their truck and be safer than if you were at the hospital.

Double-check any references that they offer and then get the details of the event from the references. In today’s world, you have the best safety net on the planet, the internet. Anyone can ask a friend or relative to say they catered an event for him or her and did a fabulous job. Ask for the date of the event and check for yourself whether they were married on the date and place they give to you. If you can verify the date, you probably have a legitimate, real life, honest to goodness reference and not the caterers best drinking buddy or girlfriend.

Finally, follow your gut instinct. Nine times out of ten, your heart knows when you have found the right person. If he/she is personable, runs a clean and tight ship, and can provide excellent references that pan out, you have a winner. Now go enjoy your wedding.

Adding Fun To Your Wedding With Music

Food and beverages are considered an important component of the wedding planning checklist but your music has equal importance. A wedding without music would be boring and dull. You should have music perhaps a DJ spinning tunes, a live band, recorded music from a boom box, a string quartet or any other kind of music to make it livelier.

Well wedding music is not just meant for dancing; you can include numerous activities around the music and music certainly will add an element of fun to your lovely occasion.

Perhaps most popular is the musical chair. It is indeed fun for kids but perhaps adults wouldn’t mind musical chair with a little variation could be a lot of fun. Like one option is men acting as the chairs and the women slightly sit on their knees until any one of them falls down then the couple is out, this continues until we have a winning couple.

A few brides and grooms prefer to play musical chairs to give away the table centerpiece, guests really have some fun with this. So instead of allocating figures and giving it to person holding it, it is better to have a musical chair at each table until one person is left who would definitely win the table centerpiece.

For an intimate wedding where almost everyone knows the wedding couple, perhaps the best rousing game in this situation is “name that tune”. In your wedding planning checklist this task is included as well to get information about the favorite songs of the bride and groom then to create a CD of those songs. Guests will be divided in two teams and they need to guess the song when a small clip of each song is played.

As guests hear the first clip they need to make a bid that how quickly they can name this song. Let us say in 10 seconds while the other group has to make either less than or greater than this bid, if group one fails to answer this then the second group can answer this. This involves everyone, delightful fun for everyone.

You can choose many games from wedding program templates but it all depends upon the wedding style you prefer. There are many games in which you can ask the bride or groom to join you on the dance floor. If you are planning to have a very large elegant wedding these game choices may not work for you as every place has its etiquette and demands. On the other hand in a casual small family centered wedding you can have more games, more fun.

“Call Out” is the other way to ask couples to come on the dance floors, but for this first the guest themselves needs to perform on the dance floor in their special way. In addition to this, guest at times have to perform to get the bride & groom to kiss is just another way to get your guests involved making the day memorable for the wedding couple.

Wedding Theme Ideas

Planning a wedding always requires the careful consideration of all the details. Since it is a very important day that will mark the official union of a couple, every step of planning the event is crucial. It is very helpful to find various Wedding Theme Ideas that are able to help in the decision-making process. Some of the most common themes that are used are garden wedding themes, butterfly themes, underwater or ocean theme (even when it is held indoors), Las Vegas style or perhaps a Greek-inspired wedding. With each of these, the symbols and the colors are apparent to make the theme obvious for everyone to enjoy.

One great idea for weddings that are held during the wintertime or the colder times of the year is to have a theme that brings a warming effect. An example is to have a tropical theme where the colors would most likely be yellow and light blue. The backdrop of the reception could be the image of the sunset by the beach. The flowers could be those of lilies, orchids and daisies. A picturesque way to decorate the table would be to have a pineapple centerpiece that is nestled on top of a colorful lei. The doors and the sides of the couple’s table could be decorated with bamboo torches.

If you take note of an Hawaiian Wedding Theme Ideas, you would be able to easily think of souvenirs and designs that can be used on the invitation and the thank you cards. This also makes a great idea for the design of the wedding cake where the fondant can be used to create small images of palm trees, leis, flowers or an image of the sun. The ideas that will pop in to your mind are practically endless. This idea can even be used in selecting the menu for the occasion.

Have you been thinking about tying the knot? It is always worth thinking about how you can get the most fun out of your wedding day. It is the one time in your life, probably, that you are going to make formal arrangements, invite everyone you know, eat, drink, be merry, be formal, laugh, be serious and of course dress up…. so if you are like most people you will want to have a good time with it all!

Ever considered why the bride always wears white and the groom always wears a suit, and everything happens when it does, and by whom? It’s the way tradition develops that we have weddings the way we normally do. But today we are going to think outside the box… because not everyone wants to do things according to tradition. Some people want to make a statement… or just have some wacky fun! After all you have the rest of your married life to be serious…

1. Doctors and nurses theme.

Who didn’t play doctors and nurses in Kindergarten? Time to ask Aunty Maud if she can sew the bride up one of those fabulous old-style nursing uniforms, complete with the hat. As for the groom, would he look dashing in a long white coat? We’re being funny, here, of course – unless you really are a doctor-and-nurse pair, in which case, why not really ham it up? You could even get a moment in there where the celebrant tells the groom that he may now take the bride’s blood pressure… sure to get a laugh… especially if you’ve made sure that your family and friends have done some partying first!

2. Water cooler theme.

If you and your spouse-to-be met at the office, why not hold the ceremony next to a water cooler and maybe a vending machine or two? You could even get the ring to come out of the vending machine? Some may find that tacky, but others may find it hilarious.

3. Winter sleepover theme.

You, your fiance, the celebrant and your official witnesses dress up in thermal underwear, woolly socks, long johns, and flop around on mattresses and blankets. Best suited to a small, intimate wedding!

4. X Files theme.

Dress up as Scully and Mulder and have them finally get married! it’s about time!

5. Who wants to be a Millionaire theme.

Just imagine, you get the mirror ball, the glittering lights, and the celebrant dresses up as the show’s compere. Everyone sits in risers in a circle around you, and the music rises as they wait for you to say, “I do”.

I’m sure you can think of many more crazy wedding themes, so if you have a penchant for the wacky, get your heads together and come up with something really unique that will be fun, original and most of all, memorable forever. Who needs Las Vegas when you can come up with your very own fabulous wedding themes?
