2 wedding questions, I’m lost!?

Ok, so I have 2 completely different questions that I need some advice on. First, I’m getting married next October and I’m starting to get honeymoon ideas and I am LOST. I am wanting to look into Hawaii and Mexico, but I have no idea where to start. I would also be willing to look at other places, if any of you have any suggestions or could tell me some good websites that could help me get on my way to planning my honeymoon…like even a cruise or something? I have no idea where to start! And my second question is, my aunt is doing our wedding cake for us and I want different flavors of cake…like my MAIN cake I will have one flavor, and then I want side cakes that are different flavors…do you know of any websites that has pictures of this and maybe some flavor ideas? I want to know how I could set up the table without it looking “cluttered”. I just thought it would be something different so my guests would have more choices…if that is a good idea or not?

dont go on a cruise, that is lame. mexico is fine in some places but it is not the usa. hawaii is wonderful, far away and expensive. avoid honolulu. maui is nice. the big island is quieter. lanai is very quiet. and you are in the usa. go to an american express travel agency if there is one near you and they have brochures on all these places. go online. ask others. i have had fabulous times in hawaii and mexico. just a thot, in mexico it is still hurricane season…….in oct.

I would thoroughly recommend a Carnival Cruise, on the Carnival Pride, down to Mexico. Very romantic, relaxing and fun. 7 day cruise goes to Mazatlan, Cabo San Lucas and Puerto Vallarta. Awesome!

As far as the travel goes, it would be best to visit a travel agent, they are very helpful to someone who doesn’t even know where to begin.

For the cake; as I understand you want one main cake and a few other cakes (side cakes) in different flavours. Why not make a three-level cake and make each level a different flavour. If it was me I would do a layer of chocolate, a layer of vanilla and a layer of marble (but I’m a chocolate fanatic). Other neat flavour ideas are:
    - Passion fruit cake.
    - Coconut cake with kiwi and pineapple crème.
    - Pear cake with maple rum buttercream.
    - Roasted chestnut cake with Grand Marnier buttercream scented with orange zest.
    - Hazelnut and vanilla cake filled with rich chocolate buttercream (close to the taste of Ferrero Rocher).
    - Chocolate cake with mint buttercream
    - Lemon cake with raspberry
    - mint chocolate chip (my fave!!)

I hope your wedding is perfect!

I’m not an expert on cakes, but I’d like to answer the honeymoon question. My husband and I went on a cruise for our honeymoon, and we absolutely LOVED it. We would go again in a heartbeat. To find out about cruises, you can go on any cruiseline’s website – we chose Princess cruises, but you can check out Carnival, Royal Caribbean, etc. – and just browse their cruise options. Princess has a great search tool, it makes it easy to search by date, location, cruise duration, etc.

The reason why we liked the cruise is because everything was taken care of. We had to arrange for a flight to and from the departure/arrival port, but once we stepped on this ship, we were pampered to death. There was entertainment for all tastes, great food, beautiful scenery; we could do as much or as little as we wished. We had a cabin with a balcony, and really enjoyed sitting out late at night looking at the water rushing by. We’d call in for room service at 2 am, and they’d bring us tea and sandwiches. It was awesome.

We went to the Caribbean, but we decided that the destination mattered very little – we would have enjoyed it no matter where the ship took us. If you live somewhere near the port of call, it would be really easy for you to just hop on the ship and take a 7-10 day cruise somewhere. I highly recommend it.

I used expedia.com to plan my honeymoon last year. We went to Cabo San Lucas and had a great time. If you are looking for relaxation (and like the spa/holistic atmosphere), I highly recommend Pueblo Bonito Pacifica. It’s on the southside of Cabo San Lucas and away from the crazy nightlife. If you decide to rent a car in Mexico (we did) be prepared for the crazy local drivers! I don’t recommend a cruise for your honeymoon. It may just be me, but I felt too confined on a cruise. I like to explore and area without being given a time to get back on a ship!

For honeymoon, think about where you want to visit most and take into consideration cost, weather and travel restrictions. Also look into Costa Rica.

As for cakes, have a cake stand and display a few different cakes. We were planning to do this but just stuck with the same flavor. Here’s a picture of our cake stand:

for cake ideas – flavors and decorations go to www.cakecentral.com

my friends went to Costa Rica for their honey moon and they loved it. They said it was kind of like going to Hawaii but for much much cheaper.

Well, if you have an idea of where you want to go, check out that state’s/country’s website. A good place that I saw when I went there was Aruba.

wedalert.com and thehoneymoon.com. Try those sites and see what you like. If you like Hawaii do a search: Hawaiian honeymoon packages. Go to food.com and try searching for cake fillings. What would be nice is chocolate mousse, vinilla almond, vanilla, chocolate fudge, Italian canolli filling with chocolate chips and citron, vanilla pudding with fresh strawberries, lemon mousse, banana mousse,. There are so many different fillings. allrecipes.com is a good site or like I said food.com. Go to royal-hawaiian.com. This is a stunning resort and they have honeymoon packages. My friend’s daughter went there on her honeymoon and loved it.

going thru the same thing about the honeymoon.

mexico: try looking into the dreams resort in cancun or puerto vallarta. the one in pv offers private pools, hot tubs and a two story room for under five grand. the one in cancun is similar, but without the private pool.

there is always italy, but the euro is horrible right now and would be expensive.

i really would not recomened hawaii. i have never been there, but heard from many who have and they were disapointed because it cost so much. for the price you pay to go there, you can get you a kick ass hotel in mexico.

if you have the patience to fly this far, fiji is suposed to be really pretty and exotic!!!!

if you are into the country atmosphere, the poconos resorts are nice. they are all-inclusive and offer awesome rooms with champaigne style hot tubs, indoor private pools and etc. i think it is also an hour away from NYC.

vegas….but to me that is not romantic for a honeymoon.

overall….go to mexico! have you ever been before? we went to puerto vallarta last year and it was awesome. we stayed at the golden crown resort and had a great time. they offer honeymoon suites with private hottubs outside for under three grand. we would go there for ours, but we are going to cancun and staying at the dreams.

    good luck!!!!

as for your cake situation, check out cakecentral.com. i have been checking it everyday to get ideas for our cake. having different flavors is an awesome idea. some people prefer red velvet over yellow cake and so forth. i think it is a great idea and we might do it our selves!!!!
