Honestly, for you, I’d spend a TON of time focusing on English classes and watching food network, H&G TV, and the ‘wedding’ and ‘party’ events on E and other networks. English is INCREDIBLY vital because using words like ‘wanna’ and ‘gonna’ with no capitalization won’t cut it for a reasonably educated couple’s wedding or party.
You have as much control as the wedding party wants to give you. That may be you making most of the decisions and them picking a few fabrics, plates, and colors or them making all the decisions and you coordinating them.
You should contact a few higher end event locations and see if they have a few wedding planners that they work with. Then, contact the planners and question them how they got in the business, what kind of school they recommend, and if they accept interns.
