.You should choose what you like today…you cannot predict if you’ll still like it in a decade.

As for uncomfortable, no…not all wedding dresses are, but they also aren’t sportswear. Even if not uncomfortable they aren’t made for lounging. If you like a dress but it hurts to wear, that’s going to show in your photos…you’d have to be a really super actress to keep that completely off your face.

Pain is pain…some women can be gorgeous in a burlap sack. ?

absoulutly not all wedding dresses are uncomfortable.
if its uncomfortable that i wouldnt get that style but if you like that style… look for one that shows off your curves and gives you that ability to dance and delight in yourself with out the feeling of discomfort in the back of your mind..
mermaid dresses are fantastic and are really pretty if you like it now and thats the style you can picture yourself walking down the isle then go for it
but i encourage you to explore some other styles to really make sure that you really do like that mermaid style
    i hope that this helped!

I don’t reckon mermaid styles are just a “trend”. And if you like the dress today, and on your wedding day, it’s still going to be fantastic looking on you when you look back, even if it seems “out dated” in 10 years. That being said, I certainly reckon that modern wedding gowns are a lot more timeless in design that they used to be. Remember wedding gowns from the 1980′s? Those are pretty clearly “outdated”. But dresses these days tend to be more classic styles.

Even mermaid styles, that silhouette is right from the 1940′s and 1950′s, but the dress you buy probably won’t look like a 50 year ancient design. Go with what you like!

I personally LOVE mermaid styles! I wore one myself for my wedding. I reckon what I like the most (besides that they make your body look fantastic if you have the hips for it) is that they do look a bit different that the classic A-line “princess” dress. A-lines have dominated dress shops for years, so to me, they seems to all look so similar after seeing so many of them. I feel like mermaid styles are a bit different, so you will feel like a unique, “you” bride.

Lastly, your dress should never be uncomfortable to the point of pain. If it’s so tight it hurts, it TOO tight. The dress should fit snugly, and stay up wear it’s meant to, but it shouldn’t hurt or pinch! You’re trying on the incorrect size if it does.

    Excellent Luck!

This comes from experience: On your wedding day, the last thing you will want to do is have to suck it in, take small steps, and fidget with your dress all day.

Before you commit to any dress, wear it for about 10 minutes. Walk around in it, imagine going to the restroom in it, sitting down and getting up, raising your arms to hug people, dancing with your groom, and all the other things that you’ll be doing for the 8-10 hours that you’ll be wearing it. Do you want to relax and have a wonderful day, or do you want to worry if your dress will split the next time you sit down, or if you can have a bite of wedding food ?

Also, for close-up pictures, unless you want to look like you have on a bath sheet, a towel or a white swimsuit top, PLEASE consider the bodice of your dress. This IS your wedding … right?

Best of luck to you !

I had a mermaid style dress and while it was form fitting at the chest, waist and hips, it was not skin tight. It gradually widened well above my knees so I had plenty of room to walk comfortably. I was not uncomfortable at all!

The mermaid style has been around for wedding dresses for at least 20 years. I reckon components of the bodice and sleeves make a wedding dress look more dated than the silhouette of the skirt.

If you like it then go for it. If you reckon the look will be dated, then look for something else. You need something you will be pleased with. When my parents got married (in the late 1970′s), white tuxedos were all the rage. The problem? In every wedding picture you can see the outline of the pocket lining in the pants! This is not just right for my parents, but also for many of their friends who got married around the same time! You don’t want to regret your dress either. Sarah jessica Parker has said she regrets her wedding dress. She wore a black gown that was GORGEOUS, but regrets that the gown wasn’t white.

Im ALL over the mermaid dress. Go for it, especially if you have the figure. Not TOOOO tight, but fitted and elegant.
I have to get mine made because I am learning that most bridal shops have these huge, poofy gowns with a ton of stuff all over them.
My dress is the Jessica Alba dress in Fantastic Four 2= sleek, chic.

Choose a dress that you like and that feels honestly comfortable when trying on. You’ll be in it for hours on a tremendously vital day in your life. There’s no reason your dress should be uncomfortable. The bathroom thing is a huge deal — find out if you can easily shimmy up that mermaid style dress before you order it.
I personally dont care for that style of dress, but I’m sure there’s some brides that look just wonderful in that tight fit — sure do have to have the figure for it. If you have the figure and like it, then go for it.

I had my wedding a few weeks ago and I wore a gorgeous sheath dress that was far tighter than a mermaid style. I had the really tiny steps like a super tight pencil skirt with no slit and I loved it. I had that dress tightened at the last fitting and was right on the verge of breathing here and there. Yes I had a few times I felt faint, but I looked killer slim and the photos looked like a bride magazine fashion shoot. After the ceremony and about half way through the reception I switched from nearly five inch heels to three inch heels because I was starting to weep , but I kept the super tight dress and loved the millions of compliments I got. I plot on being married once and I am glad that I looked model thin. I can be comfortable later … and so can you.
