My dress was $1200 and was made in France and took forever to get to me but it is finally here. I can’t clarify what it looks like but I like it. I just walked into a bridal store that was locally owned (not a chain store like Davids Bridal) and I looked through dresses I may like and the one I chose was the one that I was really unsure about looking at it in the bag. You really don’t know until you try it on so even if it may look weird in the bag, try it because it may look gorgeous when worn!
Just figure out your own budget and what you can spend..I reckon it is ridiculous buying a $10,000+ dress when you only wear it once.

I went out hoping to spend as small as possible. I finished up spending 800 on a new dress + 200 alterations + another 125 for a shawl.

When it’s THE dress, its THE dress. What can you say. :)

I bought it at Bryans Bride (not sure if you have those in the US?)

Has freshwater pearls and swarvsky crystals detailing it- strapless sweetheart neckline- ivory taffeta… corset back.. with a small train

I can’t clarify so I will show you it:

I am getting it at David’s Bridal. My budget for my entire wedding outfit is $2,000. I will end up spending $100 for my veil, about $1,000 for my dress, and $65 for my shoes. So all together about $1,165.

    This was my wedding dress.

I was really impressed with the detail in the dress and the quality. I was expecting to pay a lot more than what I really paid for the dress which was 650.00. I ordered the dress four months in advance and got it a month after I ordered it which is pretty quick. I had so many compliments on my dress. The website gives this dress no justice. In person it sparkles so much. I certainly recommend Mori Lee wedding dresses. They are affordable and the quality is fantastic.

My dress is an ivory halter dress, the design is called “sheath” and I bought it from David’s Bridal. It was discontinued dress so it was on sale for $299. The lace on the dress (floral print lace) was perfect for a Hawaiian wedding–the consultants really recommended it for me when I told them I was getting married in Hawaii. I’m a size 0 and petite and got married in Hawaii so I did not choose a traditional huge gown. The consultants at David’s Bridal were so very nice and helpful. I had a fantastic experience. I tried 4 other bridal boutiques but David’s had the most affordable selections. Excellent luck!

What does my dress look like:
This is it, but in white http://www.robyncliffe.co.nz/gallery_box.php?gallery=pronovias&img_file=rima&title_gown=PRONOVIAS&order=24&limit=90

    Where did I get it?
I got it from from a boutique on the other side of the country as it was $700 cheaper (this is in Australia)

    What was my budget?
I didn’t really have one, But I thought anything over $2000 was a rip off.

    How much did I spend?
They wanted $3000 for this dress and I paid $2300. Too much, but better than it could have been.

P.S. Decent quality dresses only start from $1500 in Australia, everything I tried on priced less than that was flimsy or had scratchy tulle (not bridal tulle) or was terribly cut and made.

  7. Garnet Glitter says:

My gown cost 500.00-in 1974. Today I’m sure it would be well over the 1,000.00 mark.

Ever see Gone With The Wind? The green & white picnic dress Scarlet wore in the beginning of the movie? Imagine that in solid white with a white, lace covered picture hat……that was me. I wore it in bright white ( I’m able to carry that color well ) I don’t recall how much the alterations were (the waist had to be taken in because it was nessesary to order a size 5 because of my boobs-my waist measured for a size 3)…and the skirt needed to be shortened by an inch-they did it at the waist because of the hem detailing.

It was the cover dress on Bride’s magazine…when I saw it I knew it was my dress. It was bought thru a private bridal shop in NJ that no longer exists.

I have no thought who ‘made’ it.

    My dress:

I called up different bridal shops around the country until I found one that sold this dress for the best price, and they shipped it to me.

My budget was 4,000 but the dress was only 700! Alterations were another 350.

My dress is similar in shape/style to this one except mine isn’t a halter-style it has regular straps:

I bought it at David’s Bridal.
My budget was up to $1,000 with a goal of under $500.
I found it on clearance for $249.

My dress is strapless with some beading on the bodice and a pick up skirt. I got it from David’s Bridal, obviously.

    http://www.davidsbridal.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplayView?langId=-1&catalogId=10051&storeId=10052&catentryId=1000052

My budget going in was $1000 for a dress alone. Because of a sale I got my dress for only $450. I was really stoked. With a veil, headpiece, slip and shaping bra (or whatever you call it, it looks more like a corset with clasps in the back) I came in just under my dress budget of $1000. Unfortunately when I got my veil I found out that they were manufacturing it differently than the one I had tried on and was missing six inches because of it, so they allowed me to return it. Taking that off I spent about $800 and finished up making my own veil for $12. I still have to get alterations done but from what I saw the bustle will run me about $80 with them and having the hem shortened will be around $80 or more as well. From what I’ve heard David’s Bridal alterations are expensive though, so I’m sure you could find someone to do it for cheaper.
