Engagement ring help?

I’m ready to buy a ring. I know that my girlfriend wants something classic, and simple: A princess cut solitaire. Pretty straightforward. But here’s my question, what carat size is appropriate? Here’s my thought:

Quality is better than quantity – the more it sparkles, the more she will like it. Also, avoiding a bulky diamond would make it more comfortable in long run. (she has thin small hands, so it won’t look out of place.)

* On a side note, I’m coming to this with some reservation about diamond engagement rings. They are not as traditional as some believe (trend began w/ De Beers in 1930′s) I don’t believe the 2 months salary suggestion, or that a one carat minimum holds. I would rather use the money on a nicer wedding, or honeymoon. But I also know she would prefer a diamond to an alternative gemstone.

Any suggestion on doing this right, and being smart about what I spend?

Can someone please help me with math?!?

This project is due Monday and I would love it if someone would check my problems and answers. I have been sick with a stomach flu since wed and have not been able to show the teacher my progress. PLEASE HELP!!!

World Population Trends
Starting Tips:
The two most reasonable points to make a prediction about the future are points (1970, 3,680,000,000) and (2006, 6,552,000,000). In thirty six years, from 1970 to 2006, the total human population almost doubled. Multiplying 3,680 by 1.7555 I got 6,460.24 Giving a clear prediction that in another 36 years the population will probably double again.
6552 = 3680(1 + r)2006 – 1970
(819/460) = (1 + r)36
(819/460)1/36 = 1 + r

(819/460)1/36 – 1 = r
0.016152892 = r
0.01615 ? r
y = 3680(1.016152892)x – 1970
There is a 1.6152892% increase.
So then what will the population be approximately in another thirty six years?
y = 3680(1.016152892)2042 – 1970
y = 3680(1.016152892)72
y = 3,680(3.16994802)
y = 11665.40871
y ? 11665.4087

The Facts:
The total surface area of the earth is approximately 196,930,000 square miles. Approximately 29.2% of earths total surface area is land. Each person takes up one square foot of land.
(196,930,000)(0.0292) = 57,503,560 sq miles of land.
This then means that approximately 57,503,560 square miles is land and I need to convert square miles to square feet.
1sq miles = 27,878,400 sq feet
(57,503,560 sq miles)(27,878,400 sq feet) = 1.60310725 x 1015
160,310,725,000,000,000,000,000 sq feet
The Question:
If this pattern of data continued, how long do you think it would take until we were all squashed up against one another?
Meaning that if each person takes up one square foot of land that means there will have to be 160,310,725,000,000,000,000,000 people to get to where everyone was squished up together. To find how long this would take the use of logarithms are in need.
1.60310725 x 1015 = 3,680 x 106 (1.016152892)x – 1970
435626.9701 = (1.016152892)x – 1970
log(435626.9701) = log(1.016152892x – 1970)
log(435626.9701) = (x – 1970)log(1.016152892)
log(435626.9701)/log(1.016152892) = x – 1970
[log(435626.9701)/log(1.016152892)] + 1970 = x
1977.796564 = x
1977.7966 ? x
1977.796564 + 1970 = 3947.796564
1977.796564 + 1970 ? 3947.7966
In 3947 the world will no longer have any room.
Some factors that could change this estimated population could be some of the following:
disease, war (nuclear killing billions), meteor(s), global warming, natural disasters (volcanoes, earthquakes, storms), poisoning of the environment through our waste, infertility of the human race, the sun either exploding or dieing, and over cutting creating a unbreathable earth.

Starting wedding photography, please help with my questions.?

I am getting ready to start wedding photography, can someone honestly tell me how much I can expect to make on average per month living between Los Angeles and San Diego? I would think being between 2 major cities, advertising on craigslist, and in the local papers, being part of a church group, I would do fairly well and should be able to pull between 3 and 7 weddings each month. Does this sound realistic? I have an SLR with a hot box and flash, other lighting equipment. I believe as far as equipment Im ready and will probably do the 3 weddings for almost free. I am and buisness minded I have ran my own buisness before so I know how to market myself, I also sold cars before, so I am good at building customer relations. I think I take great pictures and have heard the same from other people. Ill let you be the Judge www.yountphotographyonline.com. I can handle constructive critisicsm. I just started this website. Comments/Suggestions plz email me @ j_yount_3@yahoo.com Thanks Josh

Can you help answer a technical question regarding wedding vows?

A friend of mine got married six months ago. Unbeknownst to him, his fiancee – now wife – turned out to be a raging lunatic. He’s a stickler for adhering to his vows, and says that he agreed to marry “for better or for worse.” I told him that if he truly believes that she is the “worst” – not just “worse” – that he ought to be able to divorce her with a clear conscience. He did not say “for better or for worst.” He thinks I’m being way too technical. What do you think?

I have a question about wedding hotel etiquette, can you help?

Is it okay to have out of town guests stay at one hotel and the wedding party stay at another hotel? My fiance and I want to stay at a beach hotel but there aren’t enough rooms there for out of towners. They would have to stay at a hotel about 25 minutes away from us.
