A “Fall” theme wedding….they did everything in fall colors and decorated with live mums (a fall season flower) and had fall leaves on the cake and the flower girl tossed leaves instead of petals. The wedding was in October so the favors were small potted mums.
Traditional.
Rings, hearts, doves, butterflies, bells, joined hands, white tiered cake, the whole nine yards. It’s pretty when there is a dominant color chosen like sunny yellow or deep blue, or even a family of colors like pastels or jewel tones.
I don’t care for it at all when some “theme” so dominates the party that it doesn’t really feel like a wedding anymore. These people have their whole lives to give Victorian themed parties and Vampire themed parties, but only one day on which they can give a WEDDING themed party. You’d reckon they would take advantage of this once in a lifetime opportunity.
I advise my couples to go with something that suits their personalities.
One couple wanted a winter wonderland, groom arrived at the church on a snowmobile. The colors were white, silver, and blue. It was a picture out of a snow crystal castle. Amazingly, with lots of plotting and plenty of time to be creative, the couple made it their own with several unique thoughts.
Another couple, who was into Texas Hold Em, everything was set up like poker tables, with playing cards, chips etc. Each center piece represented a winning hand and the table was labeled as such for seating purposes. The colors were black and red. They rented some seating for a lounge atmosphere near the bar. Really pulled it together nicely. You can only guess where they headed for their honeymoon.
Most of the guests liked it because it was different and it was perfect for the couple. And, some didn’t. Well it didn’t matter, it was what the couple wanted and it was their day. It was a fun reception.
Another was silent elegance. Ceremony was held in the garden of a country club with reception immediately following. It was set up as a large dinner party with a harpist playing in the background. Candlelight, brilliant food, decandant assortment of lucious desserts. No extra hoopla, yet plenty of time to visit with so many close friends and family members.
Guest list was about 60. My favorite.
What ever you choose, make it your own. Congrats and excellent luck.
Baseball theme. She’s a sox fan, he’s a cubs fan. The bride and groom wore the traditional wear (wedding dress and whatnot) but the bridesmaids all wore sox jerseys and baseball pants, the groomsmen wore cubs jerseys and baseball pants. It was a backyard wedding. Absolutely adorable.
I am pretty anti-theme, LOL. I tend to reckon “we-are-getting-married” is theme enough.
If I must vote for themes . . .
then I vote for beach themes, Vegas themes, and Victorian themes.

The best themed wedding I have ever seen was called Fire & Ice. The colors were red and white and For the ice part they had a lot of bling. Crystal chandeliers and the fake trees with crystal droppings hanging from them. They had ice sculptures and miniature fake fire pits for the center pieces. It really cool looking and it all came together really nicely.
I am doing a masquerade ball theme. I plot on having fancy looking jewel masks for them women. It’s going to be at this castle (hopefully). I want all the women to wear gorgeous colorful ball gowns (if possible).
I am not sure what else I am going to do.
My maid of honor has a list of thoughts for me to go over.
I have been to 2 Christmas weddings. It saves you money because of the time of year. It saves you even more money because most venues are already decorated with gorgeous poinsettias. Mini Christmas trees make adorable centerpieces! Colors are red and/or green. At one wedding they had tables sing Christmas carols rather than clink glasses to get the bride and groom to kiss. It’s just a cool theme!
My mom’s cousin had a Halloween wedding for her 3rd wedding. Everyone had to wear a costume (my mom dressed as the Cat in the Hat and my grandmother was a scarecrow). She had her flower girl dress up as a small black cat. Her ring bearer was Eddie Munster. The “worst man” was Beavis from Beavis and Butthead. The maid of “dishonor” was the wicked witch of the west. The justice of the peace dressed as an Arabian Sheik. The groom was Dracula. The bride dyed a wedding dress from one of her previous weddings black and wore that. The cake was bright orange with spiders on it. It was quite unusual. Of course, now she’s onto husband #4, so just because it’s cool and different doesn’t mean it’ll work out!
My wedding theme is based on my engagement ring. My ring is a heart shaped diamond solitaire. Naturally our theme of hearts has been woven into nearly every aspect of the wedding. Our invitations have hearts and swirls on them. Our cake topper has nearly the same design as our invitations. I am have had custom linens made (my mom does embroidery) with hearts embroidered on them. Hearts is sooo cute!
The coolest wedding I attended so far was the wedding of my friend from college. It had a gothic romance theme and it was held outdoors at the Taylor Farm in Georgia. With so much space available in the venue, they were able to creatively decorate the place with lace, black ribbons, crimson roses, candelabras and gorgeous table centerpieces. The preparation looked elaborate, lavish and well plotted and my friend mentioned that the people running the venue really helped her perfect the look she wanted.
