Why do you reckon that the groomsmen "have to have something" just because the bridesmaids are carrying bouquets? Everyone will know that they are the groomsmen.
To be honest, I don’t see any alternative. My only suggestion would be this: whatever you do, do NOT end up getting a boutonniere and pinning it to their shirt!! That looks absolutely ridiculous. But really, I reckon with the casualness of the wedding, a boutonniere is not needed by the groomsmen at all. For the girls, I would choose a very simple bouquet….nothing really over the top.
